Head, Marsh rested for Pakistan ODIs
Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh haven't been named in Australia's 14-man squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Pakistan at home. Both batters have been granted leave on paternity grounds, which means another opportunity for young Jake Fraser-McGurk at the top of the order. Matt Short, who impressed on the recent UK tour across the white-ball formats, is set to be the other specialist opener for Australia. The series also marks the return of Pat Cummins who hasn't played the ODI format since that famous night on November 19, 2023 in Ahmedabad.
The 31-year-old will be joined by his pace partners Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc as the trio are set to feature together for the first time since the 2023 ODI World Cup final. As far as genuine comebacks are concerned, Marcus Stoinis is back in the mix thanks to the injury cloud surrounding Cameron Green who has been officially ruled out of the Australian summer with a back stress fracture. With surgery looming, the all-rounder is set to be out of action for six months.
Green's injury gives Stoinis another crack at the format in which he hasn't played since midway through the 2023 World Cup. He, however, will face stiff competition from Aaron Hardie who enjoyed an immensely successful UK tour across the white-ball formats. The remainder of the squad pick themselves as the selectors have retained the same bunch that tasted success in England recently.
The ODI series kicks off at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on November 4 followed by games at the Adelaide Oval (November 8) and Optus Stadium (November 10) in Perth.

Nathan McSweeny to lead Australia A
Nathan McSweeny has been named captain for Australia's two first-class games against the touring India A side, set to be played in Mackay and Melbourne. The team also features Test players such as Scott Boland, Michael Neser, Marcus Harris and Todd Murphy.
Speaking on the selection, bBiley said, ""We are really excited by this squad, particularly after some of the tremendous performances to start the Sheffield Shield season.
"As always with Australia A selection we have picked a side we hope can present performances which are compelling for the upcoming Test summer, whilst also rewarding players for strong domestic form in roles we see as being important further afield.
